Monteviejo Winery and Deaf Association of Mendoza

Mendoza | Argentina

In Monteviejo Winery, can live together projects with a strong inclusive approach and the most delicious dishes under the management of chef Nadia Harón, a Spaniard whose mission was to provide a majestic tasting experience with a base of dishes prepared according to the principles of signature cuisine integrated into a menu of traditional flavors, and the local ingredients make the difference.

Nadia Harón, who was awarded by the National Academy of Gastronomy for her restaurant Nadia OF, seeks to deconstruct the food menu with proposals that integrate the most traditional flavors with the most innovative ingredients.

The menu. All the preparations are made with products from the area and the implementation of its own organic garden is currently in the pipeline.

The menu varies according to the seasonality of the ingredients and is designed to explore the different wines of Bodega Monteviejo.

There is always a vegetarian menu available and another suitable for celiacs. In addition, the restaurant also offers a choice of dish for children.

Leaving the usual, Espacio Monteviejo also offers a more relaxed option which invites you to enjoy gastronomy and the excellence of wines with a tapas menu, although it is a Spanish concept, but adapted  to the traditional gastronomy of Mendoza.

Awakening of the senses. While diners live their close encounter with a gastronomy of excellence, the place offers guided tours to get to know the different corners of the building, guided tastings and various tastings, cooking classes, music and art, all injected with the best vibes of a staff willing to welcome visitors again to delight them with an experience of just the right dose of precision and relaxation.

At the foot of the mountain range, with the snowy background of the peaks of the Andes, stands the Monteviejo winery building with a large expanse of vineyards that surrounds it and offers visitors a dream moment with the contemplation of this unique landscape .

Artistic experiences. Events where music, wine and tapas come together are common in this space. Thus, different bands with a varied repertoire with an accent on rock, but also jazz and blues give away and entertain many activities offering unique pleasures that converge in one place.

The Terrace of Uco. The terrace of the Space is a must stop for tourists, who choose to end their experience with a drink in hand contemplating the imposing mountain range. It is a huge space with strategically located armchairs and tables that invite you to get comfortable and simply observe the best view in the world.

The visit to the winery. The Monteviejo Space has guided tours that are carried out in small groups and are held in three languages (Spanish, English and Portuguese). During the tours all the wine lines of the winery are tasted. The hours are in the morning between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and at 3:00 p.m. Duration is approximately 40 minutes. This visit is included in the lunch option that is contracted, either the menu of steps or the tapas, although it can also be done without staying for lunch. In all cases, it includes the tasting of the winery’s wines.

Monteviejo models his spirit linking worlds where wine, gastronomy, music, nature, cultural and artistic proposals meet and interact; All this makes it an exquisite place in the Uco Valley where you can spend a full day of wine tourism activities.

Espacio Monteviejo

Bodega Monteviejo is the first Accessible Winery in the sense of having created and sustaining the perspective of accessible tourism. Both the tour of its facilities, art samples and in the restaurant space, services are offered so that each person can have an unforgettable cultural and gastronomic experience. Visits, with prior reservation, can be guided with Argentine Sign Language (LSA) interpreters, Deaf guides and audio guide service for blind people (Prior reservation required). The works of art and artistic experiences and audiovisual and virtual materials are accessible through Closed Caption (hidden subtitling) and audio description and Braille system. Specialized guides are present during music, art and tasting events. In addition, the exhibition space for artistic productions is integrated into the tour of the Winery.

They all together developed an app to learn the Sign Language Glossary of Wine. It was created by the Mendoza Deaf Association (with subtitles in Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese) and can be downloaded to any mobile phone. The main objective is to include deaf people into the wine world and raise public awareness.

Monteviejo Wineries adds virtual wine tastings in Argentine Sign Language to this initiative.

The presentation of the app was accompanied by the media campaign #Dejateenseñarporelvino (Let wine teach you signs!), which aims at encouraging the learning of wine-related words in Argentine sign language in social networks.
