Sustainability and ecology is at the core of everything Gemtree Wines do. Certified organic and biodynamic, Gemtree has one of the largest certified biodynamic vineyards in Australia.
The Cellar Door is sustainably built with recycled materials and sits on stumps so as not to impact its natural surrounds; powered via a 10kw solar panel system and running off rainwater. The Biodynamic Hut enables visitors to learn about biodynamic farming principles and how they are applied in the vineyard in a hands-on interactive tour.
Adjacent to the Cellar Door is a 10-hectare nature reserve, which the family planted with over 50,000 natives. Meandering through the reserve is a 1km Ecotrail with interpretive signage in both English and Mandarin.
