A slower pace of life at Postales Uco Valley

A slower pace of life at Postales Uco Valley

There’s something very special about waking up in the Uco Valley. The gentle whispering of mountain breeze rushing through the leaves of the alamos trees and the grapevines, the golden sunrise which casts a glowing light on the Andes mountains in the distance, and the calm feeling the overcomes you in this most peaceful corner of the world. It’s the sort of wake up you want to linger over for hours, and one of the most peaceful places to gently wake up in the Uco Valley is this year’s Accommodation Winner in Mendoza — the beautiful boutique hotel of Postales.

Nestled in a handsome garden and vineyard just outside of Colonia Las Rosas, Postales has 11 rooms spread across the estate — each reflecting traditional Mendocinean architecture and cool comfort with thick adobe walls and high cane ceilings. Right at the heart of the finca is the main casona, the original farmhouse which has been lovingly restored and offers a large living space where guests can meet, and talk with the owners Diego Stortini, a third generation of grower in the Uco Valley, and Caroline Loock, a specialist in Slow Food.

Between them they share a passion for the slow and peaceful way of life in the Uco Valley, and encourage guests to ease into the lifestyle here, which they call ‘slow wine travel’. You could spend weeks here exploring the nearby wineries, and Diego and Caroline in fact finished their own boutique winery onsite last year — Finca Nunca Jamas.

While a tasting of their wines at the winery is a highlight of a stay at Postales, you can also enjoy their own production of boutique wines over dinner or lunch at their slow food restaurant. Focusing on fresh, seasonal produce, the restaurant uses local ingredients (many of them picked straight from their organic garden) embracing the concept of Slow Food. The ethos at Postales is very much about slowing down and easing into the calmer pace of life, and natural bounty, that the Uco Valley brings. Perhaps take a siesta by the pool, or read a book under the shade of the trees, but whatever you do — slow down, and enjoy your Uco Valley moment at Postales.
